The Energizer Solar Battery Charger was recently announced, which is a charger that charges AA and AAA batteries using the sun’s energy. It’s the first time I’ve seen a major battery manufacturer releasing their own solar charger gadget.

Samsung Blue Earth Eco-Phone
Samsung have announced an eco-friendly mobile phone that has been made from a recycled plastic called PCM, which is recycled from plastic water bottles. The handset and phone charger are completely free of toxic nasties, such as Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium and Phthalate. The phone is fitted with a solar panel on the back of the phone, which is designed to ensure you always have enough power to make a phone call.
Solar Powered Nintendo DS lite
It appears that the Nintendo DS Lite was made for solar panels, as the Instructables author dark sponge has created a useful solar charger for the DS Lite. The top face has enough space for two 60×60mm solar cells side by side, each outputting 3V at 40mA.
Solio Communicator – Solar-powered Handsfree Kit
The Solio Communicator is a solar-powered hands-free kit for mobile phones, useful for when you’re out and about driving. The communicator works with all Bluetooth cell phones just like any other handsfree kit, the only difference is that it’s powered using the sun.
Eneloop Solar Light USB from Sanyo
This rather odd looking Solar Light USB from Sanyo features a large solar panel to charge a fairly chunky battery. The battery takes around 15-30 daylight hours to fully charge up, giving 9 to 50 hours of light depending on which lights are used.

The Solar Stand is a new concept by Tom Fereday that addresses the lack of applications for flexible solar panels. The Solar Stand improves the quality of the solar cells, increasing power output by up to 35% and making the panels easier to use in the field.

The Black Hills Solar Charger Rucksack is a spacious and lightweight 25 litre backpack that features a solar powered charger built into it. The Black Hills Solar Backpack uses sunlight to trickle-charge the internal Lithium battery. The charger can then be used to charge all of your gadgets, such as MP3 players, mobile phones, PDAs, etc.
