Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

Today Samsung introduced another member to its lineup of Android-powered tablets. The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus runs on the Android 3.2 Honeycomb and packs the Exynos chipset with a 1.2 GHz CPU under the hood.
The slate's 7" PLS LCD has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus has two onboard cameras - a 3 MP main shooter at the back that also does 720p video and a 2 MP front-facing snapper for video-chatting.

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus has quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support (yeah, it has telephony!) and tri-band 3G with 21 Mbps HSPA. The tablet, which will come in 16GB and 32GB flavors (both packing a microSD card slot), comes with dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, GPS and Bluetooth radios.
The Android 3.2 Honeycomb platform has been spiced up with Samsung's home-backed TouchWiz UI on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The included 1GB of RAM makes sure that Honeycomb will be able to fulfill its great multi-tasking potential.

Coming with a decently sized 4,000 mAh battery the droid measures 193.65 x 122.37 x 9.96 mm and weighs just 345g.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will be available in Indonesia and Austria from end-October with worldwide availability to follow shortly after that. No pricing info has been revealed so far.

super-hot Japan-bound droids

The Japanese will be getting a trio of really cool high-end Android smartphones in the face of the Sharp AQUOS PHONE 102SH, the Panasonic Lumix phone and the Dell Streak. The three smartphones were just unveiled and their specs will make every geek's heart melt.

Sharp AQUOS PHONE 102SH

We'll start with the IP57-certified Sharp AQUOS PHONE 102SH. This one is built around a 4.5" LCD of HD resolution (329dpi) that supports glasses-free 3D and a TI OMAP 4430 chipset with its 1GHz dual-core CPU and 1GB of RAM.

The element-resistant smartphone is just 9.7mm thick and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Its main camera does 12 megapixel stills and 1080p videos, while connectivity includes everything from 3G to Infrared.

Panasonic Lumix Phone 101P

Next comes the Panasonic Lumix Phone 101P with its 4" qHD LCD and 13 megapixel camera with Lumix sensor. It shares some of the major features of the AQUOS 102SH - the TI OMAP 4430 chipset, the waterproof body and the Android 2.3 platform.

The Panasonic Lumix Phone 101P weighs in a mere 128g and measures just 9.8mm in thickness. The Lumuix Phone 101P and the AQUOS PHONE 102SH are also sporting digital TV antennas as customary for Japanese high-end handsets.

Dell Streak Pro 101DL

Finally, we have the Dell Streak Pro 101DL, which makes it the third Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone announced today. Its 4.3" qHD AMOLED display sounds really exciting and the Snapdragon chipset with dual 1.5GHz Scorpion cores is not bad to have either.

The Streak Pro 101DL, however, is not as much of a shutterbug as the other two. Its camera maximum resolution is "only" 8 megapixels, but it does have the same excellent connectivity.

Samsung Nexus Prime

Brace yourselves, fellas, for October will be one hell of a month for the mobile industry. The next iPhone will break cover on 4th, HTC will follow up with a phone of their own on the 6th and now we have confirmation that Google's next flagship will be announced a week later - on October 11th. Yeap, we are just two weeks away from seeing the Samsung-made Nexus Prime.
The Korean company has already sent-out the invitations for the Unpacked event, which will be held at the CTIA expo and will be co-hosted by Google. And that might mean just one thing - it will be the event that will see the introduction of Android Ice cream sandwich and its first bearer - the Nexus Prime.

This also aligns nicely with the lengthy video demo of new Android version that we saw this morning. The platform seemed in pretty good shape on that demo, so it should be ready to hit the stage.
And it's not just the new reincarnation of the world's best-selling popular OS that deserves attention. The Samsung Nexus Prime should be a pretty hot piece of technology itself with its rumored 4.65" HD Super AMOLED screen and powerful Exynos chipset with a couple of 1.5 GHz CPU cores.

Samsung Galaxy Note

They used to be big, later they became redundant. As soon as smartphones were ready to offer the same features, PDAs were on the way to becoming extinct. With a device like the Samsung Galaxy Note though, one can't help but wonder if they're making a comeback.
It's got a big touchscreen for reading and entering text, with a stylus for jotting down notes and sketches, with powerful hardware that beats most phones in processing power and features. Sounds like a new-age PDA to us.

The screen is part of the new HD SuperAMOLED line and boasts the impressive 1280x800 pixel resolution. It uses a PenTile matrix, but with 285ppi you can't really tell. Stretching over a whopping 5.3 inches, it makes browsing those web pages an almost tablet-like experience.
The Samsung Galaxy Note shares the Exynos chipset with some of its Galaxy siblings, but it's the one with the 1.4GHz dual-core CPUs. We've already had a look at its performance and we can say it's blazing fast.

  • Form factor: phone/tablet crossbreed
  • Dimensions: 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm
  • Weight: 178g
  • Display: 16M-color 5.3” Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of WXGA resolution (1280 x 800 pixels)
  • OS: Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, TouchWiz UI
  • Chipset: 1.4 GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU, Mali-400MP GPU, 1GB of RAM, Exynos chipset
  • Camera: 8 MP autofocus camera, 1080p video recording, LED flash, 2 MP front-facing camera
  • Memory: 16/32 GB internal memory, expandable via a microSD card slot
  • Connectivity: quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and quad-band (850/900/1900/2100 MHz) UMTS with 21 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, Assisted GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, microUSB connector
  • Battery: 2,500mAh
  • Misc: S Pen, Gyro sensor, accelerometer sensor for auto rotation, ambient light sensor, Adobe Flash Player 10.3 support, DivX/XviD support, TV-out (adapter required), optional GLONASS, optional NFC
The Samsung Galaxy Note packs the same camera as the Galaxy S II, giving you 8MP stills and FullHD video recording. If the image quality is on par, the Note should easily beat its tablet competitors in the photography department.
One important area is portability - Samsung have made the device as small as possible (there's hardly any bezel around the screen) but 5.3" is pretty big. Figuring how to carry the Galaxy Note around will be a challenge, but if you find a way you can leave your phone at home - the Note has top of the line droid specs and full phone functionality too.
