Square Phone from Nokia, the 7705 Twist

Nokia 7705 TwistThis definitely wins the prize for the strangest mobile phone I’ve seen in a while. The Nokia 7705 Twist is a square phone which twists open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard underneath the 2.4 inch QVGA screen. It is being billed as a messaging mobile and has support for threaded messages and covers IM, MMS, SMS. It also has an easy blog feature.

The square design allows you to stand it on end which is ideal for using the 3 megapixel camera with flash, auto-focus and of course timer. The device even supports VCAST video streaming and video on demand.

It comes in black with Xpress-on covers provided in purple and black and it looks super cute but how would it actually be to use? Well it measures 2.71 x 2.71 x 0.59 inches and it weighs 3.44 ounces. Seems like a decent device for messaging but for actually talking on the phone I’m not convinced.

Another cool feature with the Nokia 7705 Twist is the fully customizable Contact Light Ring. It is a light at the bottom right that flashes to alert you of incoming messages and phone calls and you can assign different colours to different people. I’m not sure how practical this device really is but it seems destined to end up in quite a few handbags because it is compact, cute and a little bit different.

It goes on sale in Verizon stores within the next few days and it will cost $99.99 after a $50 mail in rebate and sign up for a 2 year contract

Never Lose Your Mobile Phone Again Thanks To Samsung Proxima

How often do you forget your cellphone at home? How often do you misplace it and how long does it take until you find it again? How many phones have you lost in public places? Well, the answer to this questions for many of us is “a lot”, so it’s time to solve this using the Samsung Proxima.

This mobile has a wristband acting as a dock for a detachable mobile phone. A proximity sensor makes the wristband emit a tone or vibrate if the phone is too far from it and it also helps you find the missing phone just pressing a button. But that’s not all, it can also detect nearby contacts using the same device, letting you set your privacy and location details. Let’s hope that Samsung manufactures this clever idea before we lose another phone into the oblivion.

Earpiece LG Tag Phone Gives A New Meaning To Mobile Phone Simplicity, Functionality And Beauty

Sponsored Links

This is the mobile phone for those who want to simplify their life while making a statement. In today’s hyperconnected world, our electronic devices are becoming more interconnected through the Internet, WiFi, broadband and
Bluetooth. The LG Tag is a refreshingly simple mobile phone that clips to the ear for ultimate portability and nearly hands-free use, shattering the paradigm of the handheld “brick”. Unlike a wireless headset that links to your existing device, Tag is able to stand alone as a fully functional mobile phone. It is operated by a simple touch screen using basic scrolling and tapping functions to navigate the menus, even while it’s being worn. Voice activation is another way to navigate. Data entry and other more complex tasks can be handled via wireless connection to a PC or other mobile device using a proprietary website, or it can link to your favorite social networking sites like Facebook. By shifting the more complex functionality to other devices, the LG Tag is refreshingly simple and hands-free. It is a basic mobile phone that works!

Borrowing from the circular geometry of the LG logo, the front is dominated by a simple round touch screen. There are no external buttons or visual clutter. The back side is more intricate than the front, featuring a speaker surface shaped like sound waves with an embossed LG logo at the center, surrounded by the serpentine earpiece. This unusual attention to detail on the back side hints at the personal and “precious” nature of the Tag.

I know, I want one too. I don’t think there is a living soul out there who wouldn’t want one. This amazing phone has all the functions of a contemporary phone such as: mobility, constant Internet connection, access to documents, games and the best possibilities and means of communication and contact. But these are just basic features. The most important feature is, that you can create your own phone case, fully customizable, painted with pictures you pick from the Internet, you can create the phone of your dream, a brand to call your own. With the “Magic Stone” each customer will be able to feel himself a creator and to see a real embodiment of it’s creation. Year after year the need of self-expression is growing.

Another interesting feature, is that the phone doesn’t require a power charge, it’s case is covered with a nano-material which converts the Sun light into energy or you can use the wireless charging, meaning the battery is charged from magnetic fields. The “Magic Stone” has a touch screen display, but the display is also a hologram projector which is created by a laser. The hologram can be used to project a keyboard for text typing, a map as a GPS, 3D objects such as games, a video or picture viewer, the laser bunches can read the motion in the holographic projection field enabling the user to stretch, minimize, rotate or bank the hologram.

The designer, Aleksander Mukomelov, has thought about everything a user would want from his phone. The “Magic Stone” was also awarded a winner in the Red Dot Design Award 2009.
