Android phones have risen fast in popularity and so developers are making a lot of apps for Android. Here I will tell you how to decode a barcody by just a barcode scanner which is compatible along with Android phones. Barcode scanner app decodes the information about the product, like the place where it has been made, the price and sometimes also the manufacturing date. Through barcode scanning technology, you can scan through the most popular codes in formats of 2D and 1D like QR code for searching in Google for the product results in applications. Through this Android app, you can easily scan products like CDs, books, DVDs, etc in the market and get to know all the details about them. This is not all; you can go a step ahead and look up about the information, reviews, etc. for it on the Internet on the Android phone. You just have to open the camera [...]

Android phones apps – Installing and uninstalling

Android is currently the latest amongst mobile phone operating systems and it is also the second most popular one, beaten only by iOS. Also, it growth rate is quite impressive and tech pundits predict that it will soon be the number 1 OS. The reason behind its success is the user-friendly interface and its attractive look. People are blindly following Android phones now just because they are the most talked about handsets around. A lot of my friends belong to this category; they don’t even know the basics of the phone like installing and uninstalling applications. Hence, I decided to write an article about it here as there might be a lot of people facing this problem. You can easily get Android phones apps from Android Market place and then you can access it from the device itself. There are tons of applications available ranging from free to paid ones. Our sources say [...]

Maylong M-150 7″ Android Tablet at 99$ ePad/iPad Clone

This is another cool tablet based on Android, it might be the iPad killer that people have been waiting for. There is nothing spectacular about the features but the price is certainly worth drooling up – this tablet costs just $99. it is called Maylong M-150 and has a seven inch screen. The device will run on Android version 1.6 which is a bit dated but still quite useful. The tablet screen will have a 800x480 pixels resolution and it has some of the best features that you’d want in such a device like resistive touch screen, microSD card slot for putting in extra memory, internal speakers, Wi-Fi. The device supports up to 16 GB memory cards which is big enough for storing all your required data. Android Market now has over 100,000+ apps

Our sources recently told us that Android market now has over 100,000 apps. This reiterates the fact that Android operating system is growing fast and it is getting popular all over the globe. Also, this is the only OS we know that can give tough competition to iOS. Android marketplace was not available in everywhere when it first came out. After a while, it spread to about 20 countries and after that, we saw a huge rise of apps in the market. They are very much popular amongst users too, our sources tell us that there are tons of apps downloaded everyday from the store. All things considered, iOS is still ahead of Android in terms of market popularity but the growth of Android is much faster than the Apple’s product and Android may soon me the world’s most popular OS if it continues to grow at this speed. iOS has about 280,000 apps in the market, [...]

Android Rooting – What is it all about?

Before buying any phone, you most probably look at the application support, looks, speed and the amount of memory too. Rooting has become really important in new phones these days and that it what this article is all about. Here, I will tell you the advantages and disadvantages of rooting. You have to be really careful while Rooting, if not done properly, your phone might be unusable forever. Rooting give you admin rights for accessing the ‘read only’ files which are generally blocked for editing. If you are familiar with Linux and if you have enough of tech grey cells then you can do anything on your handset from changing the user interface to unlocking new stuff. This might be jargons to someone who isn’t in to gadgets but it is of immense use for a developer. Again, you have to be careful while applying the changes because one wrong step can turn your phone in to a brick. Developers [...]

How to update your Android phone manually

I got some questions asking me if there is any way to check new updates for Android phone. Instead of answering to each of them separately, I decided to blog about it. I will tell you here how to check for the updates. Android handsets can update the software on the phone over the air. You don’t even have to connect the phone to laptop or PC for this. Generally, if there is an update available, you will get notification through an update message. However, if you want to check for updates manually, then you will have to follow these simple procedures. Update tool is quite similar to Windows on computer, you get notifications if there is an update available and you can choose to download or ignore them. Once the phone receives info about the update, you will get notifications and after confirming the installation, your Android device will get updated. To check for the updates manually [...]

Top 5 reactions to 3D TVs

3D TVs are here and everyone is talking about it even though the highest end TVs are way out of our budgets. These panels will be dominating our living rooms in the future but we don’t know when it’s going to happen. The prices will have to come down fast so that people can afford it easily. I have tested a few 3D TVs in the labs and they panels are truly awesome, especially the flagship models. Samsung and LG products have impressed me the most but Panasonic is not too much behind either. I would like to see these manufacturers give the 3D glasses with the TV itself because you have to shell out more money for it after you have bought the TV. A single pair of these glasses cost $250 and you have to buy at least two, if you are going to watch it with some friends. Large families will need more pairs. Also, another interesting feature has been 2D to 3D conversion. I recently conducted [...]

Panasonic HM-TA1 – Can be used as a Webcam

The camcorder market is getting really crowded especially the minicamcorder market because there are plenty of options to choose from. Hence, in order to lure customers, these devices must either have a low price or should come with a few extra features. Unfortunately, the Panasonic HM-TA1 doesn’t have either and hence I find it really hard to recommend this gadget to you. Also, there is no shortage of substitutes in the market with a plethora of smartphones and devices like iPod Touch which can also serve the give purpose well. Panasonic HM-TA1 records videos at VGA resolution at 1080p and 720p resolution at 30 fps for both. iFrame format of Apple is also available here. It is smaller than HD and records at 960x540/30p at 24Mbps. This format is made for iMovie although you can import standard HD MPEG-4 format in to iMovie. The TA1 can also be used as a Webcam and you get to choose [...]

Sansa Fuze+ – Excellent value for money

When it comes to music players, iPods are the first thing that would jump to your mind. The Apple iPod has ruined other MP3 player’s market share and there are also music phones which serve as good substitutes to stand alone MP3 players. Sansa has been in the MP3 player market for a while and they have made some really good MP3 players in the past. The best thing about their products is that they are really inexpensive and hence give great value for money. I got the Sansa Fuze+ in the labs for review and this device is available in 5 different color options. For memory, you can choose from 16 GB, 8 GB and 4 GB options. They are priced at $119, $89 and $79 respectively. Sansa Fuze+ is a successor to the original Sansa Fuze which the manufacturer first came out in 2008. It was a good product and things have been made even better here. Fuze+ can handle photos, videos, music, [...]
