Cisco Introduces New Tablet Computer
Jun
US networking giant Cisco has recently unveiled its latest tablet computer specifically designed for business users. This product has been introduced by the company in an effort to compete with Apple iPad which has already sold more than 3 million units three months after it was introduced in the US market.
Cisco’s new product Cius (pronounced “see us”) is using Google’s open-source Android operating system and has a 7-inch screen display that is smaller than iPad’s 9.7-inch panel.
Despite its limited screen display, Cius will have features which are lacking in iPad—a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a front-mounted HD camera which has been designed to support real-time video and HD video streaming.
According to Cisco, its new product features instant messaging, web browsing through Wi-Fi connective (and eventually 4G Technology), email, and other applications and programs designed to meet the needs of business travelers and professionals.
VIXIA HF M300 Camcorder
Jun
Probably one of the most powerful consumer camcorders today is the Canon VIXIA HF M300 that features 1920 x 1080 resolution in video (resulting to full high definition video). However, its photo recording capability falls short of 3.3 megapixel resolution which may be acceptable because in the first place, this device is used for shooting videos.
To capture vivid images particularly the blue and purple tones, the camcorder uses DIGIC DV III Image Processor. In addition, this technology can support 24mbps to make the video recording as fluid and vivid as possible.
Another notable technology is the SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization which can compensate camera shake caused by unsteady hands and shooting while walking. This feature is then complemented with Powered IS which can be used by pressing longer the Powered IS button on the LCD touchscreen.
3 Million iPad Sold for Less than 3 Months
Jun
Technology giant Apple Inc. has sold 3 million of its newest touchscreen tablet computer iPad after it was introduced in the US market three months ago. Meanwhile, the company is expecting the sales will continue to break record since the device is yet to be introduced in Singapore, Ireland, Hong Kong, Mexico, New Zealand, Belgium, and Luxembourg in July.
iPad allows users to do web surfing, read electronic books, watch video, listen to music, play games, and use other mutli-media features.
“The company is working hard to make this product available to these nine countries…we are aiming that this device will be in the hands of more people around the world”, Steve Jobs said Tuesday.
With the unprecedented popularity of iPad, Jobs said that Apple software developers have created more than 11,000 applications for this computer tablet.
Samsung HZ35W Camera
Jun
Samsung HZ35W is a point-and-shoot camera that features 12-megapixel resolution, 24 mm wide angle lens, extended telephoto capability of 15 x optical zoom, and 3-inch screen display, making this more powerful than its predecessors from the HZ Series.
One of the most notable features of this camera is the built-in GPS that allows users to geo-tag their photos—a capability which is becoming the standard in new compact digital cameras.
This is how the geo-tagging capability works: after a user has taken a shot, the camera will automatically store its exact location, even displaying the name of the city and country on the screen. Further complementing this feature is the visual map-view technology which allows the users to check the location of an image on a map without having to upload this online.
Gateway NV5933u Laptop
Jun
For couch potatoes, there is now a reason to be less sedentary with a new laptop called Gateway NV5933u which has a built-in Blu-ray Disc partnered with a powerful 15.6-inch display designed to support vivid images with its 1366-by-768-pixel display.
Despite being cumbersome (14.66 inches long and 10.19 inches wide), at least the laptop is relatively portable with its weight of 5.84 pounds and looks reliable and sturdy enough to accommodate excessive use and a movie marathon.
When it comes to ergonomics design, the laptop has a large keyboard complete with a number pad and a not-so-easy-to-glide touchpad (so mouse would be more advisable). Meanwhile, the computer has several dedicated buttons for volume control, Wi-Fi connection, backup control, and power button that is located on one side (a quite unconventional location).
Microsoft Kinect Gaming Device
Jun
Los Angeles: Technology giant Microsoft on Monday has recently unveiled its latest gaming device called Kinect which is equipped with motion and voice detection technology and is compatible with Xbox 360 game console.
Aside from games, this new product will offer other home entertainment features including video chat; online services such as Twitter, Facebook, and Netflix; and social interaction technologies.
During E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Xbox Live vice president Marc Whitten said that Kinect aims to provide entertainment that would focus “more on social features and simpler and controller-free use.”
Canon VIXIA HF100 Camcorder
Jun
As the market is literally flooded with camcorders for average users, consumers are finding it hard to choose what is the best brand that will give them professional-looking recordings. Fortunately though, Canon has introduced a camcorder called VIXIA HF100 which can support 1080 High Definition video. Complementing this feature is its ability to record video twice longer than other brands because the recording is compressed which means less consumed storage space.
And because the camcorder uses Flash Memory, there is a less chance of memory loss caused by shock (from accidental fall).
Another notable feature is the HD CMOS Image Sensor (also found in Canon’s EOS SLRs) that features high resolution images of 1920 x 1080 pixels and noise reduction capability which means the camcorder can correct “hazy areas” that are common when shooting in low light conditions.

Jun
