After appearing in a recent FCC database the news came out on the not too catchy named as yet LG E-Note H10008. With a choice of 1.1GHz Atom Z510 or the more powerful 1.6GHz Atom Z530 there will be plenty of speed under the 10.1” 1366x768 capacitive touchscreen hood. Enough to power Windows 7Starter Edition anyway. Portability is great too with a weight of 850g and it’s only 14.5mm thick too. Also the E-Note will back connectivity to the max with USB 2.0 WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 3.0. Memory Wise a 16GB SSD will be present but also can be expanded via an SD card reader.
At the moment it’s only available in LG’s native Korea and is retailing around the £530 mark.
Another day, another tablet PC, this time from across the channel it’s the boys from Archos. At the end of the day before Apple came with the iPad and the iPod Touch, Archos were making touchscreen PMPs and Tablet PCs and good ones at that so you can be sure that they have the knowledge and ability to make ones capable of competing with the mighty iPad.
First thing to note about the 101 is that it has a 10.1” screen. Ample enough right? Secondly it runs Android 2.2 which comes with full Flash support making your browsing experience better than that of an Apple product. Bundle this with WiFi, Bluetooth and HDMI out it’s got plenty of connectivity options. Third great fact is it’s only 12mm thin so extra portable and last but by no means least it’s memory size. Available in two sizes 8GB and 16GB the memory can also be expanded by that wonderful invention the SD card.
The 8GB is retailing at £269.99 while the 16GB one at £299.99 certainly both reasonable prices in my opinion in comparison to the higher priced iPad.
Androidandme the blog for all things Android based has revealed some exciting news on a future Motorola device, the Olympus. With Motorola seeming to be behind the big mobile makers in terms of great phones, after it’s comeback with the Milestone, what’s next for Motorola.
Firstly the Motorola Olympus has had some spec leakage. The Olympus will be powered by non-other than Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chipset. Yes a dual-core processor more than capable of handling anything throne from it by any current mobile phone and certainly a lot more powerful than the current range of Snapdragon processors favoured by current mobile makers. All the leaks have come by way of photographs labelled “Olympus in pre-production” that lists as well as the Tegra 2 chipset is that the Operating System will be Android 2.2.1
The rumours are it’s going to be available sometime next year but until the full official announcement (probably at CES) is made we can only hope it’s sooner rather than later.
2006 saw Panasonic release a gargantuan 103” Plasma TV. Now with the next step in gogglebox technology being the 3D revolution, Panasonic have upgraded it to now feature 3D.
Available only at the moment to pre-order in Japan, the TV will output at 1080p Full HD with a contrast ratio at a massive 5,000,000:1 to go alongside it. Now with the massive size of the television plus it’s massive stats you guessed it a massive price to go hand in hand with it. This baby will set someone with a mansion to put it in £65,000. Not on ly that you’ll need a crane to get it in your house, 321Kg is it’s total weight with stand.
Makes you wonder how a country so full of small people and small gadgets that a telly this size could exist and have enough room for it to go in!
Dell the computer giants not so long ago delved into the smartphone industry and came out with a top drawer phone in the Dell Streak. Since then Dell have been working on an Android powered mobile called the Venue Pro and after the release of WM7 are working on the phone named Thunder. Now to add to this already great looking line up of mobiles is the sequel to the Streak, the Opus One
There’s not too much to report on the specs of the phone, all we know so far is that it’ll have a massive 5” display capable of 1280x800 resolution. That is some screen. I mean the Dell Streak was big and a lot of smartphones like the Desire HD and the Xperia X10 are opting for huge screens, but where do you draw the line, when does it stop being a phone and become a tablet PC with 3G connectivity. Either way this phone will be fast, powered by a 1.2GHz Dual-Core SnapDragon processor.
If and when any more news is available we will be on it like a car bonnet.
Whether your a musician or just a music lover Marshall Amplification is a brand you’ll recognise with it’s iconic logo and black and gold colours. I was chuffed recently to see the re-issue if you will, of the Pure DAB radio branded with the famous amps design and colours. Well now Marshall themselves are hitting the market with two styles of headphone (on-ear and in-ear) and made them in the way only Marshall could.
Those wonderful chaps at Google’s next edition of Android is due soon and has been titled “Gingerbread”. Full details of whats new are still a bit scarce but what we’ve found out is that Samsung are planning a yet to be named mobile to run the new OS and the speccage looks pretty decent. All looks good on the mobile OS front for both Google and Samsung!!
Engadget got the information on this new “Gingerbread” device and kindly shared it with us. So this is what they found out.

- 1.2GHz processor
- 16GB on board storage
Apparently the information was leaked by someone on the inside of Samsung and have also gone on to say that this phone should become official next year, February 2011 to be precise, just in tiome for Mobile World Congress!! It’s also been said that it will be launched as Samsung’s Flagship phone for the first half of next year.
Samsung are getting it so right at the moment, the success of the Galaxy S phone and now the Galaxy Tab the Koreans are going from strength to strength in the competition for top mobile device manufacturer so what’s next? Well they have come out with the next instalment in the Galaxy mobile series with the Samsung Continuum. Leaked last week by US mobile operator Verizon, it was made official at a New York Media event by Sammy themselves.
A two touchscreen phone, yes two. The top screen a 3.4” Super AMOLED affair as the main screen, with a 1.8” display underneath for all your notification needs acting like a tickertape display. The ticker will show your incoming calls and your text messages as well as RSS alerts, music playback control and weather updates.
Other Specs known
- 1GHz Hummingbird Processor
- 5MP Camera
- 720p Video capture
- up to 32GB of storage
- Android 2.1
Now at the moment it’s only been confirmed for a US release so fingers crossed it’ll get a UK release.
LG XPION X30 – Another NVIDIA ION Powered Nettop
Another NVIDIA ION Nettop has been added to the competition by LG. This means that more branded Nettop is available for user to choose. LG introduced this XPION X30 just about a two days ago and they claimed it as the first small desktop computer powered by NVIDIA ION. I’m not sure why they won’t stick that ‘Nettop’ on this LG XPION X30, but I certainly see it as one.
LG XPION X30 desktop PC is carrying Intel Atom 230 at 1.6Ghz, 2GB of RAM, 250GB of Hard Drive, and the NVIDIA ION graphic chipset. This specs will allow you to run several graphical thirsty applications (but not for hardcore games) and you can use it to watch HD video conveniently.
Depend on when you it will be released (unknown yet), you will get Windows 7 pre-installed with the purchase.

The twee little Mini-e ER1402 is a $300 computer with a big heart. The fella weighs a mere 9 pounds and has HDMI out and AMD Athlon II NEO Processor, NVIDIA GeForce 9200 graphics and 2GB of memory, just enough for a walk in the park and a wee snoot of brandy at the local after.
The shape? Not my absolute fave but when you have so little work with, you kind of take what you can get. Very, very cute.
New eMachines Mini-e Creates the Ideal Home Entertainment Center with a Perfect Balance of Compact Design, Features and Affordability
Looking more like modern art than computer, the eMachines Mini-e ER1402
small form factor desktop is a great addition to any homeIRVINE, Calif., June 25, 2010 – eMachines® today introduced its newest and most radically designed small form factor desktop, the Mini-e Home Entertainment Center. The size, weight and thickness of a small book, the unique glossy black diamond shaped chassis “floats” in a matte silver pedestal, while emitting a soft ambient green glow along the lower edge.
Just 7.1 inches in diameter and weighing just 9 pounds, the slim and compact Mini-e ER1402 provides full HD multimedia entertainment and every day computing capabilities. While it looks great in a main living area, it can also snap to the back of most monitors or TVs, serving as a home entertainment center and streamlining limited work areas.
Simple to set up and enjoy, the Mini-e has built-in 802.11 b/g/n wireless, making it easy to connect to the Internet. The HDMI interface allows it to instantly connect to a big screen TV and an S/PDIF port allows the system to digitally connect to a home audio system. With the included wireless keyboard and mouse, families can easily play popular flash-based social media games, surf the web, view and edit photos, stream video content from Netflix® or Hulu®, or watch HD movies comfortably from the sofa.
“Today’s cost-conscious consumer will find style, features and affordability come together beautifully in the low-cost eMachines Mini-e,” said Steve Smith, senior business manager, consumer desktops for eMachines. “It’s an inconspicuous, streamlined computing solution for any room of the home where consumers want to enjoy movies, photos, music and other online entertainment.”
Powered by Microsoft Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit, an AMD Athlon™ II NEO Processor, NVIDIA® GeForce® 9200 graphics and 2GB of memory, the ER1402 is also powerful enough to be used for basic computing tasks, such as word processing, VOIP calls, email, spreadsheets or managing family finances.
Its intelligent design provides excellent airflow around the CPU, while ports and slots arranged around the sides allow quick and easy access and convenient cable management.
The ER1402 includes four USB 2.0 ports, a multi-in-one digital media card reader and a 160GB(1) hard drive. A mounting kit, available as an accessory, enables it to be easily attached to the back of a flat-panel monitor or a big screen TV.
The eMachines ER1402-05 is available now from leading retailers nationwide for $299.99.
Creative ZiiO tablet that we have covered earlier in this month has been approved by FCC, which mean it’s heading to US very soon. Although Creative ZiiO 7-inch Android tablet is not the coolest tablet in the market, it still has its own selling points such as the HDMI output port where you can view the content directly on your HDTV, WiFi b/g/n connectivity, bluetooth and microSD card slot for expansion.
